Tribal Sovereignty: Law of the Land

This article discusses Lucy Covington's impact through her anti-Termination battle in the 1950s-60s, and the lasting impact on tribal sovereignty. The article also provides an overview of the long history of tribal sovereignty of which Covington plays but a part. This history inlcudes many treaties and bills were passed between Indians and the US Government that impacted tribal rights and the relationship with the government.
