Lucy Friedlander carrying a basket

Summary:
Lucy Friedlander carries a bunch of full bags.
Description:

Lucy Friedlander carries a basket toward a group of full bags. She also carries a basket on her hip.

Cultural Narrative:

Every traditional native woman is expected to be a food gatherer.  In August, when the huckleberries are sweet, cedar baskets were used to store these berries.  Often the women in the Moses family would share their berries with guests visiting the Omak Stampede's Teepee Encampment. Contributed by Yvette Joseph, MSW and Confederated Colville Tribes member.
