Colvilles Head for Powwow

Summary:
Twenty-four Colville tribal members travel to testify against bill S.282. Article from the Omak Chronicle, dated 6/1/67.
Description:

The Colville Confederated tribes business council as well as two delegates from each tribal group are sent to Washington D.C. to provide diverse testimony on bill S.282 on the termination of the Colville Indians. Narcisse Nicholson of Omak says that the burden is on anti-terminationists to prove the feasibility of a reduced reservation amendment. The Colville tribal business council, who favored termination 10-4, neither support nor oppose the amendment for a reduced reservation which allows members who want to remain under federal supervision.
